Our School
Educational Approach (Grade 00 – Grade R)
Our early childhood philosophy at Ridgewood College Pre-Preparatory is to welcome young children into a learning community where they feel valued and safe. We aim to inspire passionate and resilient learners, combining directed play based learning and intentional teaching methods. Ridgewood College is and eclectic school with a mission to allow children to grow in their independence, developing strong self, and be able to use their creativity in working and learning as healthy, thinking individuals. We provide many opportunities for problem solving, both individually and in groups.
We extend and enrich our student’s love of learning in partnership with parents and the broader community. Our children’s developing knowledge of the world motivates them to care and nurture their environment and community in a lifelong sustainable way. We are committed to offering a challenging curriculum where tradition meets 21st century learning that is focused on core subjects, creating a safe and nurturing school environment, and motivating students through high expectations in a collaborative and fun learning environment. Our steadfast commitment to this vision continues to guide us in our growth each year.
We understand every child has his or her own interest and passions and contributes in their own unique way. Our purpose statement speaks for all of us – “Ridgewood College Preparatory – Connecting students to their unique futures.” We encourage our students to pursue their curiosities and we are committed to supporting them in achieving those dreams.
Teachers provide a warm, caring, joyful and structured environment to encourage our student’s natural curiosity, and instills confidence in their innate abilities. By balancing traditional instruction in reading, writing and math with art and music, Ridgewood College’s curriculum teaches 21st century skills of communication, collaboration, problem solving and analysis.
