Physical Education
Overview
Physical education is not merely a formality at Ridgewood College, but forms part of our goal of educating our learners holistically.
At Ridgewood College, we firmly believe that sport has an important part to play in the physical and social development of all young students. It forms an integral part of the total education of every child. The Physical Education program at Ridgewood College will allow all students to have the opportunity to develop knowledge and practices, necessary in obtaining personal physical fitness and lifetime wellness values. They should also acquire appropriate physical skills to participate in a wide range of physical activities and specialised sports skills. Social interaction occurs in physical education classes and participation should foster personal values.
The following sport programs are offered at Ridgewood College
Grade R, 1 & 2
Grade 3 - 7
In all sports listed, we play fixtures against local schools throughout the year, as well as attending festivals and running Inter-House competitions. We also hold a school sports day in the first term to which all parents are invited. Alongside the school sport, we also offer an extensive private extra mural program including Robotics, Ballet, Gymnastics and Hip Hop Dancing. Ridgewood College students may choose to participate in these activities in addition to their chosen school sport.
